Child Care

Research shows that children who attend quality childcare and early learning programs are more likely to succeed in school and have a lower dropout rate with less need for remedial education. All of our Custer County licensed providers are highly trained and are required to participate in ongoing training related to child health, safety and development each year.

Custer County has three licensed day care options for children.

Parents should be aware that there are some basic requirements that must be met to enroll your child in daycare (re. annual physical, immunization records, emergency medical forms). Our local childcare providers are happy to help explain what you need to enroll your child.

Child care can be costly. The Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) is a program that can provide access to reduced cost child care at licensed child care facilities or qualified unlicensed providers (including family and friends) administered through the Department of Human Services under the direction of the CDHS

Division of Early Care and Learning.
